A group of 28 Jacksonville Jaguars players practiced together at an area high school today.

This was the largest group of Jacksonville teammates to get together during the NFL lockout, as the team had previously been practicing in smaller groups.

The Associated Press reports that amongst the 28 players in attendance were rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, starting quarterback David Garrard, cornerback Rashean Mathis and defensive end Aaron Kampman.

Per AP:

"It's been a blast," Gabbert said. "It's good to get out here with the guys and have the opportunity to work out a little bit and throw the ball around."

Getting Gabbert reps with teammates will be huge for the youngster if he is to play a big role this season.

The Jaguars feel that working together this offseason will create a competitive advantage once the season officially begins.

"We've been working (in groups) two months and not many teams can say that," Mathis said.

Other squads are beginning to work together in similar sized groups, but the you have to believe any small work will pay off at least to a certain degree.

Some notable players that weren’t in attendance were Maurice Jones-Drew and Marcedes Lewis, as both are from California and are currently on the West Coast.

Edit: Tania Ganguli of Jacksonville.com wrote on twitter that these practices began May 25 and will take place every Wednesday. Practices are held at Atlantic Coast High in Jacksonville
