In what can only be described as déjà vu, Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver is making it clear that he has no interest in moving his franchise to Los Angeles.
Weaver has said this time and time again and the Florida Times-Union reported on Tuesday that he’s saying it again.
“I have no interest [in Los Angeles],” Weaver said.
The Jacksonville to Los Angeles rumor has been in play for years now and Jacksonville fans are certainly immune to this.
Jacksonville relocation talks picked up late last week when AEG President and CEO Tim Leiweke said that his company (a talent agency) had conversations with five teams—the Minnesota Vikings, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and St. Louis Rams along with Jacksonville—about a stadium the company wants to build in L.A.
I had a hard time considering this newsworthy when I first heard. Been there done that. These rumors have been circulating for what seems like forever, so I must be excused if I do not get frantic about relocation news. Until anything happens I refuse to get excited and that’s what most Jacksonville fans seem to be.
Weaver has remained adamant in his stance that as long as he’s calling the shots, the Jaguars will remain in Jacksonville. Obviously if he sells the team then there’d be a bit more reason for concern but for now, Weaver seems pretty blunt about the Jaguars and relocation.
