It looks like the Jacksonville Jaguars will not retain offensive guard Justin Smiley.
He was not with the offense during the start of training camp practice on Thursday morning, according Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union.
For a guy who was already on the hot seat, it seems like this means the Jaguars have released him.
Smiley, 29, was obtained by the Jaguars via trade with the Miami Dolphins this past off-season, but he was wildly disappointing as he was relegated to backup duty in the middle of the season.
The Jaguars would have had to pay Smiley roughly $2 million this season and will be saving so money by not bringing him back. This move will make way for third-round pick Will Rackley.
The cut should become official later this afternoon.
