The Jacksonville Jaguars will begin the exhibition portion of their season as they up north to play the New England Patriots

Here are some key facts you should know about the contest:

When: Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Gillette Stadium, Boston (Mass.)

TV: CBS

Team Storylines

Jacksonville: With starting quarterback David Garrard likely out with an injury, the Jaguars are going to test rookie Blaine Gabbert to see if he’s ready to start in the NFL.

New England: The Patriots have an all-time great at QB in Tom Brady. He may not need much work in the preseason, although he’ll need to develop chemistry with newly acquired Chad Johnson.

Player to Watch

Jacksonville: Gabbert- Clearly, this is the guy that everyone in the organization will be watching. How he performs during preseason games should determine if the team will cut Garrard and go with him and Luke McCown.

New England: Albert Haynesworth- If he plays (has missed practice the past few days) it will be interesting to see what kind of shape the former Pro Bowl defensive tackle is in.

Jaguars 101 will continue its pre-game coverage throughout the week so keep checking back for more in-depth articles on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
