It is a busy Tuesday for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they make a few roster moves in order to prepare for the first preseason game on Thursday. As you may have heard earlier, Kevin Haslam was injured during the Jaguars scrimmage. He has now been put on injured reserve and in his place, the Jaguars signed OT Rob McGill, a rookie undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech. The Jaguars have also cut G Troy White and DB Cole Brodie, and signed free agents K Sam Swank and QB Todd Bouman.
Rob McGill is a rookie undrafted free agent hailing from Louisiana Tech (the alma mater of Luke McCown, Josh Scobee, and D'Anthony Smith). Landing on the second-team all-WAC in 2008 and 2009, McGill has been brought in to fill the injured Kevin Haslam's spot on the roster. Like Kevin Haslam, McGill is also able to play at both tackle and guard, which helps to increase his chances of staying on the roster.
Sam Swank is a local product (He attended Fletcher High School) out of Wake Forest, During his time at Wake Forest, he was a three time Lou Groza Award semifinalist from 2005-2007, as well as an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2007. Undrafted after the 2009 NFL draft, he previously had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cincinnati Bengals, the New York Giants, and the Hartford Colonials. He is being brought in to relieve Josh Scobee, due to the fact that he is experiencing tightness in his leg. Fortunately, it is not expected to be anything serious.Tags: Jacksonville, Jacksonville Jaguars, Rob McGill, Sam Swank, Todd Bouman
