The Jacksonville Jaguars front office spared no time in filling David Garrard's spot on Wednesday, The Jaguars activated DE John Chick from the practice squad to bring the roster to 53. John Chick, a recent cut from the Indianapolis Colts, was a star in the CFL that helped lead the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a Grey Cup title. The Jaguars have also signed  DE Tom McCarthy to the practice squad.

John Chick is probably expected to provide depth to a defensive end position that is a bit lacking in terms of depth with Aaron Morgan and Marc Schiechl. He did have a strong showing in the preseason, but he was a surprise cut from the Colts. However, I wouldn't expect the second coming of Cameron Wake, either.Tom McCarthy (Not to be confused with the play-by-play guy for the Philadelphia Phillies), a first year player that hails from Yale, will probably compete for a roster spot next year.
