Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert is expected to make his first career start this weekend.

Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country broke the news on Tuesday evening that Gabbert would be replacing incumbent starter Luke McCown

The move makes perfect sense, as Jaguars 101 explained earlier today. McCown has proven to be ineffective during his first two starts and Gabbert will get an opportunity to ease into the starting role as the Carolina Panthers are a vulnerable opponent and wouldn't put too much pressure on the rookie.

Jacksonville head coach Jack Del Rio talked about the quarterback situation during his radio show on Tuesday and said there was a decision to be made, but didn't tip his hand towards who the starter would be. But after Crow's report, it seems pretty evident that the Gabbert era will start on Sunday.
