It seems that Matt Turk has finally met the turk. The Jacksonville Jaguars have parted ways with Matt Turk and signed punter Nick Harris. Turk has fallen out of the good graces of the Jaguars fanbase after failing to perform in critical punt situations in two out of the past three games. Nick Harris was released by the Detroit Lions during the final cuts of training camp. Harris spent 8 years in Detroit and in 2010 he averaged 44.6 yards per punt, with a net average of 35.8 yards.
It not a stretch to think that the Jaguars are a better team without Turk fielding punts. Maybe the Jags can finally pin opponents deep in their territory and force opponents to make mistakes. However, the offense still needs to sustain drives and stop having to punt so many times. After all, the Jags are starting to hit the rougher part of the schedule and at this rate, the defense isn't going to hold up and bail the offense out when it goes 3 and out multiple times.
