I know that everyone loves to hate on the QB Rating statistic, but it does paint a somewhat accurate prediction of what is going on at the QB position. This season, through 9 games, the Jacksonville Jaguars have not allowed a QB to achieve a rating of over 100. Last year, that happened 10 times.
Why is is it so much better? The improved play of the back seven definite;y helps, but the main reason is a disruptive pass rush. For the last couple of years, the sacks were concentrated among a few players like Daryl Smith or the defensive tackles. This year, the defensive ends, the linebackers and the safeties are getting involved. There are 10 players with at least full sack on record. The pressure has become so significant that the Jaguars have forced the most 3 and outs in the league. That's insane. If only we could improive on that offense that had the least 3 and outs in the league last year…Tags: Daryl Smith, Football, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Jaguars, Jaguars, Matt Hasselbeck, Matt Roth, NFL
