Shahid Khan has been approved to be owner the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Former owner Wayne Weaver sold the franchise to Khan, a Pakistani-born business man, Wednesday in Irving, Texas at an NFL team owners meeting for $760 million.

The Jaguars had been owned by Weaver since 1993, when he was instrumental in brining the start-up franchise to the city.

Kahn, according to First Coast News, said that he is looking forward to "finishing the job of bringing a championship to Jacksonville."

"All the building blocks are there to have a winner on the field," he said.

Kahn will officially be the team's owner on Jan. 4, 2012. He had previously been interested in purchasing the St. Louis Rams in 2010.
