Going into this offseason, the Jaguars have some needs to fill in te draft and during free agency. This time, we're going to go over the major needs that need to addressed.
1. #1 Receiver
A legit #1 go-to receiver is sorely need by the Jaguars. Let's face it, when Blaine Gabbert absolutely needed someone to step up and make a big catch, he was let down time after time by his priimary targets, Mike Thomas and Marcedes Lewis, Both were running poor routes and they suddenly forgot to catch the ball I don't know if the sudden lapse in ability was due to the poor coaching, but there needs to be someone that Blaine can rely on in a pinch. The accumulation of a #1 receiver, preferably one from free agency market, also draws attention away from Mike Thomas, which allows him to play at his best. Not only that, it opens up running lanes for Maurice Jones-Drew, which will give opposing defensive coordinators a tough dilemma: This move could single-handedly change this team into a force to be reckoned with. This team already has a Top 5-10 caliber defense. If they can do anything similar to what they did in 2010 (22.1 ppg, 18th in the league), this would be a playoff team, easily.
2. Backup QB
Luke McCown is expected to walk as a free agent when the annual craziness begins. So , with only Dan LeFevour being the only person keeping Gene Smith away from the Tractor Phone (That's Todd Bouman if you've forgotten by now), the Jags should be shopping for free agent QBs. everyone is looking at Matt Flynn, even though he probably doesn't want another backup job. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jags go after Jason Campbell or Chad Henne, who are both somewhat young and have a good amount of starting experience in this league.Tags: Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Dan LeFevour, Football, Gene Smith, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Jaguars, Jaguars, Luke McCown, Marcedes Lewis, Matt Flynn, Maurice-Jones Drew, Mike Thomas, NFL, Todd Bouman
