The Jacksonville Jaguars have decided to keep the hometown hero (Not Tim Tebow) for one more year. Rashean Mathis' new 1 year, $5 million deal is reported to be heavily laced with incentives, which is appropriate for a 31-year old player that is coming off of an ACL tear. Mathis improved greatly in 2011, stifling opposing offenses along with Derek Cox.While it is obvious that Mathis' days are numbered , this short-term contract at least gives the Jaguars enough time to develop another cornerback like Kevin Rutland or William Middleton.
