Today, we will be analyzing New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston. Since the Saints placed the franchise tag on Drew Brees and are on the hook for a big chunk of cap room, they aren't likey to keep Robert Meachem AND Marques Colston.
+ Reliable Receiver
Before the likes of Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles came along, Colston was one of Brees' safety valves, resulting in him going over 1,000 yards in 5 of his 6 years in the league. Imagine what that would do for Blaine Gabbert .
+ Larger Target
At 6'4, he is an easier target to hit, especially in the redzone. That would be a godsend for Gabbert since it would give him a larger margin for error on throws. One of the biggest problems for Gabbert in his rookie season would be that he would probably overcompensate for his poor receivers, who would drop pretty much anything that wasn't perfect.
- Is he a product of Drew Brees?
He fits so well with the Saints offense, one has to wonder if he is a product of an exceptional QB like Drew Brees. Personally, I don't really think so, but it has to at least be mentioned.
- Multiple knee surgeries
He seems to look good on the field, but he has had 5 knee surgeries in the past 6 years. His knees are probably more machine than human.
