Earlier in the week I wrote an article previewing Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and his ranking in NFL Network's Top 100 players list. It turns out, he was ranked a lot higher than #30 last year. For those who missed out on the show last night, Jones-Drew was ranked #12, which is the second highest out of all running backs this year.
Maurice was on the Reaction Show later, and spoke with Lindsay Rhodes, Jamie Dukes, and Steve Wyche of NFL Network over the phone. He seemed honored that he moved up from last years ranking, and spoke a bit about the Jaguars struggling offense last year. He was quick to back Blaine Gabbert for the offenses struggles, claiming it wasn't all his fault. He also praised his offensive line for creating such big holes with nine defenders in the box all year long, which lead to him leading the NFL in rushing. (Continue reading this post…)
When Wyche asked MJD about his contract situation with Jacksonville, he said he hopes they can get something done, but to talk about it in front of the media would not help. However, he was hopeful he can get out there and play in the future.
Anytime a player is ranked #12 in the NFL, his teammates will hope for the same.
