The Jacksonville Jaguars have until mid July to sign kicker Josh Scobee to a multiyear deal, or he plays under the franchise tag. Based on the $2.88 million franchise number, Scobee would take in $170,000 a game during the regular season. Vito Stellino of The Florida Times-Union spoke with Scobee's agent, Ken Harris, who still thinks Scobee will be the Jaguars kicker this year. However, according to Harris, the two sides have not spoke in months, but still have 21 days to work out a new deal.
Both sides feel their contract proposals are fair, but it's hard to guess how close in figures they actually are. Scobee is in Louisiana with his family for the time being, and can skip upcoming training camp without a fine if he chooses to.
The Jaguars kicker has proven himself as a premier player at his position, and has hit on clutch game winning field goals for the team countless times. It should be a matter of time where the two sides meet again and get things ironed out.Tags: Football, Jacksonville, Jacksonville Jaguars, NFL
