Predicting the statistical leaders for the Jaguars in 2017

The Jacksonville Jaguars have piled up the talent on their roster like never before heading into the season. The biggest questions mark in the past few years has been their selection of Blake Bortles as the starting quarterback. Barring a solid season in 2015, Bortles has underperformed and arguably not deserved to remain the starter. This season will be “make or break” for the quarterback. The Jaguars finally rid themselves of one of the worst coaches the NFL has seen in Gus Bradley. They regained Tom Coughlin back to the organization as Vice President of Football Operations. And the team has the talent on both sides of the ball. While much of the season’s result will fall on Bortles, other players will need to step up to the best of their own ability. Here are some picks at who will lead some important statistical categories come the end of the regular season.

On offense, despite how Bortles has performed, it’s clear to call that he will lead the team in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and of course interceptions. Backup Chad Henne shouldn’t see much time despite how Bortles performs this season. Acquiring a better backup, say Colin Kaepernick, may be a smart move if Bortles hasn’t show progress from his offseason training.
